What’cha Been Up To? Pt 1 – Goodwill Hunting

I’m starting a new section:

“What’cha Been Up To?”

It is for those times (which I pray will be few and far between) when life gets extra busy and out of control and I need to do an update post loaded with pics and whatnot.  Lately, whilst also working on “What’cha Been Up To” part deux, I have been vigilantly thrift store surfing and Goodwill hunting.  In honor of a new semester and upcoming fall season I have been dutifully studying the pages of RUSSH and Runway, NYLON and Noise, taking notes on what I need and then hitting the racks at local thrift establishments.  Being on a college student’s budget (broke) I have learned to be quite thrifty, and really its quite fun.

Thrift Store Treasures:

The Haul

Clockwise - ALL the booty :) ; Colin Stuart leapord print ankle boots; vintage Balmain sunnies; UNTOUCHED Stuart Weitzman mother of pearl heels

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I scored both the unbelievable Colin Stuart leopard ankle boots AND the virtually untouched Stuart Weitzman heels. I think I teared up a bit.

A few weeks prior I found the lovely vintage sequin/beaded vest which I wear quite often over graphic tee’s (such as my Love Potion No’ 9 DIY), a great staple for when I was in NYC.  I stumbled across the Balmains a while ago on Etsy vintage in WhatTheFunk’s store.  Maybe I won’t wear them a whole lot, but I sure do love to look at them (and they’re orange…my favorite color).

A VERY tired me saying hello and goodnight from behind my orange-colored glasses

So, what have you found in the thrift joints lately? Anything worth gushing over? Tell me!

Apologies and Exclamations!

If you’ve noticed I have been doing some filler posts and even those have been a little sparse lately…

I apologise from the bottom of my heart.

I try to keep most of my content original and fresh, and I try not to add too many personal life details, but lately things have been hectic and chaotic and crazy to say the LEAST.  College is starting up in a few weeks for me and getting ready for a new semester can be busy busy busy.  It’s no excuse, but it’s an explanation for now.  Bear with me as I get a more tentative schedule in place and work all of this out :)

In the mean time, Marc Jacobs knocked this one out of the park with the Louis Vuitton F/W 2010 collection…

Perfection!

I HEART BLOGS Day

Today is that Blogger event that I posted about previously.  How it works is that I will post 10 links of blogs I absolutely love and MUST read, but aren’t exactly Satorialist status if you know what I mean.

So here they are, each with a tiny description on why I love them so much.

  1. WishWishWish.net – Carrie is probably one of the cutest bloggers out there.  Her blog is whimsical with a touch of edge, just like her enviable style.  The photography on this blog is probably my favorite aspect of the blog.  Close seconds are the watercolor-esque layout and graphics along with her Mulberry Alexa bag…(sigh of envy).
  2. Monoxious.com – Arissa and Dawn are true style icons of mine.  The running theme on the blog is that they are “monochromatically obnoxious” (hence the name) by creating all of there outfits around there one favorite color – black.  There are, however, the occasional white or gray pieces added to the mix too.  Some pretty sick DIY’s are also a nice side-treat.
  3. Christeric - Two words: Effortless. Style.  Oh, and I should probably mention she is a Do-It-Yourself goddess. Yup, that’s probably why I mention her so much (by the way Christine if you ever read this, consider me a fan).
  4. Daddy Likey – Hil.Ari.Ous.  I read this just as much for the witty content as I do the helpful style tips.  A great feature she added was the “Five Guy” review, where she asks the men in her life to share what they think of the latest fashion trends
  5. INDECOROUS TASTE – Again, if I ever  come close this girl’s DIY initiative and pure skill, I will have a fulfilled life.
  6. …love Maegan – One of the first blogs I ever read, and one I will continue to read till the end.  Her gorgeous style in both clothes, accessories and home decor keep me coming back like a drug addict.  Seriously, her DIY home decorating stuff makes me want to buy my own house. I’m 19 and broke.
  7. The Haute Pursuit – OMG style.
  8. Park & Cube – Wondrous writing and content paired with delectable style. A perfect indulgence at the end of a long day.  Sounds like an ice cream add…
  9. Outsapop Trashion – Yes, the blog that started it all. One day I was looking for a few DIY projects to fill left over vacation time, and the next minute I’m back sketching outrageous projects and changing my major from pre-law to anything fashion
  10. Pandora - More effortless Parisian style.  I love her hair.

Oh, there are so many more but I don’t have time (some impatient party-goers are beckoning me from the doorway).

Hope this provides some good reading to help piss away some time better spent doing something else.

Lucite Love

I have to update, as this has been eating away at me for a while now.

I have a confession: I am craving Lucite stripper heels.  No, not to wear in their original stripper-glam (no WAY), but to do a DIY project that is probably well above my skill level.  I just reallyyyyyyyyyy want to do this. Maybe…maybe not. Oh, who knows.  Whilst I’m deciding, take a look at what I mean.  These talented girls are doing so much for the trend:

These beauties are from Christine over at Christeric.  Inspired by these Fendi wedges

These lovelier than lovely wedges are the brain child of Lauren of (IN)DECOROUS TASTE

Of course, I couldn’t do a Lucite post without the Prada lovlies.

Sigh. Well, maybe I’ll build up some courage and give it a go? What do you think?
